Roy Clyde Murdick, 83, of Brooksville, FL, formerly of Export passed away on Wednesday, May 24, 2023. He was born on April 19, 1940 in Butler to the late William and Elizabeth (Swearingen) Murdick.
Roy was a graduate of Butler High School and completed the radio and Tv repair program at Allegheny Technical School. Roy then went on to receive his Bachelor degree from California State College. He later completed the Westinghouse Technical Engineering program and worked as an Electrical Engineer for Westinghouse Electric Corporation for 38 years.
He was a member of the Christ Lutheran Church in Brooksville, FL, United Church of Christ in Export, where he was a Trustee and Elder. Roy was also a member of Westinghouse Foreman's Association, National Association of Power Engineers, Association for Facilities Engineering, Westinghouse Technical School Alumni Association, American Institute of Certified Plant Engineers, Westinghouse SURE Association, Certified Universal Technicians Association, Federal Communications Commission, and was a certified Planner Engineer at Washington Group. Roy was also a Boy Scout Leader for Troop 213 for a number of years.
Roy is survived by his beloved wife, Joan Lowanse Hazlinsky Murdick; daughter, Carrie L. Gay and son, Roy (Elaine) Murdick, Sr., Edward (Mary) Hazlinsky, Michael (Kelly) Hazlinsky, and Carolyn (Christopher) Myers; grandchildren, Brandi (Dustin) Burgoon, Shanna Gay, Andrea Murdick, Roy (Hannah) Murdick, Jr., Nathan Myers, Kathlyn Myers, and Nicole Hazlinsky; great-grandchildren, Kennedy Murdick and Roy L. Murdick III; sisters, Doris Bowser and Pauline Gutherie; brothers, Carl Murdick, Grant Murdick, and Ira Murdick; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Ginny Murdick, and by his siblings, Ella Belle, Helen Geibel, Naomi Cockcroft, Earl Murdick, and Dale Murdick.
Friends will be received Sunday, June 4, 2023, 2:00 pm - 8:00 pm at Bash-Nied-Jobe Funeral Home, 152 Abbe Place, Delmont (724-468-8381).
Funeral Services will be held on Monday, June 5, 2023, 11:00 am at Emmanuel Reformed United Church of Christ, Export, with Rev. Joseph Hedden, officiating. Burial will be in the Emmanuel Cemetery (Hill's Church). Online condolences can be given at www.BashNiedJobeFuneralHome.com.
