Dorothy "DEE DEE" Sprute

Dorothy May Sprute, age 73, passed peacefully in her sleep on May 14, 2021, after a tiresome battle with cancer. Affectionately known as DEE DEE, she was born on January 27, 1948, to Hugo and  Dorothy Sprute who made Turtle Creek, Pa their home.  Sister to Katherine Wilson and Sam Sprute, she was a favored aunt to David, Kenny, Sherry, Kathy, Jeffrey and Kristy, Sam and Karen.  Second and third generations of great-nieces and nephews would spend brief visits with her and many never had the opportunity to meet this special lady. Her younger days were spent doing crossword puzzles,  watching some of her favorite TV shows, like Gunsmoke, Perry Mason, and soap operas or World Wrestling Federation matches.  She enjoyed trips to Johnny’s drug store for comic books and puzzle magazines, or stopping at Islay’s for Klondike bars. Whether it was eating at Red Lobster, connecting a 1,000-piece puzzle together, feeding the birds, chipmunks or Tabby  cat, there was always a caring heart present and she will be missed, especially happier times with loud laughter and dictionary of a brain for accurate spelling and correct vocabulary words. Rest in Peace, dear  DEE DEE. Though heaven gained a sweet angel, you will remain in our hearts. The Family would like to send their sincere gratitude to the staff at AIMED Human Services for their loving care they showed to DEE DEE over the years.  Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, May 19, from 12 to 2PM at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC., 118 Shaw Avenue, Turtle Creek (412-823-1950). Per CDC guidelines masks will be required upon entry. A funeral service will follow at 2 PM. Burial will take place at Church Hill Cemetery.
